Texans tuning in to watch the Texas vs. Oklahoma football game may get their first introduction to Republican gubernatorial candidate Don Huffines, who is challenging Governor Greg Abbott in the 2022 GOP primary.
The Huffines campaign has announced, “an aggressive, six figure media buy for fifteen markets across the state.” The ad, “will air prominently during the football game between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners.”
Titled, “Stop the Invasion,” the 30 second spot focuses on border security, featuring multiple news clips on the ongoing crisis, including a soundbite from Fox News’ Tucker Carlson slamming Abbott for refusing to secure the border.
“As Governor, I will stop the illegal invasion of Texas,” said Huffines in a press release. “Greg Abbott is a failed leader who has broken his promise to protect Texans by securing the Texas Border. Our campaign to hold Greg Abbott accountable and retire him from public office only gains momentum as more and more Texans realize this truth. He can try to hide behind Joe Biden all he wants, but Texans are smarter than he thinks.”
Huffines further commented that, “Our campaign is driving the entire discussion around the Texas Border and many other issues. There is more to come; this is only the beginning.”
