Jarchow Drops out of CD-08 Race, Endorses Hullihan

The massive field of declared candidates running for Texas’ 8th Congressional District just got a little bit smaller. Republican candidate Ryan Jarchow announced on Wednesday that he is suspending his congressional campaign and will run for school board instead. In announcing the switch, Jarchow also weighed in on the remaining candidates for CD-08, throwing his support behind former Navy JAG Jonathan Hullihan.

“Jonathan Hullihan is the only true conservative fighter in the race for Texas’ eighth congressional district,” said Jarchow. “Throughout his career, he has defended our country and our Constitution. We need more liberty minded leaders like him in Congress that stand up to defend our freedoms. We cannot afford to have any more spineless congressman in Washington. I fully endorse Jonathan Hullihan in his campaign for Texas’ eighth congressional district and encourage others to join me in support of his candidacy.”

“I am thankful to have the support of fellow conservative,” Hullihan said upon receiving Jarchow’s endorsement. “He shares my view of limited government, greater individual freedom, and an end to career politicians through a Term Limits Amendment. I have spent my career defending our Constitution and freedoms and I look forward to the fight ahead with Ryan by my side.”

Jarchow said that he decided to run for school board after the national controversy over education policy accelerated by high profile events in Loudoun County, Virginia. Jarchow cited the teaching of Critical Race Theory in public schools, to which he is opposed, as one of the top issues that persuaded him to shift his focus locally. He resides in the Conroe Independent School District.

Hullihan has picked up endorsements from multiple conservative activists recently. GOP strategist Robert Coats announced his endorsement of Hullihan earlier in the week.

“Ryan and I recognize the character and leadership of Jonathan Hullihan,” Coats told the Texas Citizen Journal. “His background in the intelligence community, his involvement in national legislation, and his understanding of economic and strategic Issues make him the most qualified candidate in this election. I am beyond proud of my friend, the next congressmen- Jonathan Hullihan.”
