Constable Gene Deforest Endorses Christian Collins for Congress

Congressional candidate Christian Collins received a significant law enforcement endorsement going into Thanksgiving week. Precinct 2 Constable Gene DeForest announced he would be backing Collins for the Texas 8th Congressional District.

“I’ve built my career around the principles of professionalism, pride, honesty, and integrity to best serve our community,” said DeForest. “As I’ve gotten to know Christian, I wholeheartedly trust that he will bring these same principles to the halls of Congress to represent us in TX-8. He has my full endorsement.”

Thanking the constable for his endorsement, Collins reiterated his support for law enforcement and promised to, “always back the blue.”

“I am so thankful for Constable DeForest’s endorsement,” said Collins. “He has served Texas and Montgomery County well for many years, he knows I’m the right guy for the job! My promise to law enforcement is that I will always back the blue so that together we can make our communities safer and stronger.”

DeForest has served Constable Precinct 2, which encompasses the Conroe area, since 2001. Before being elected constable, DeForest worked for the Conroe Police Department for 18 years.

DeForest’s commitment to his four core principles of, “professionalism, pride, honesty, and integrity,” haven’t always endeared him to the political class. He has often been at odds with the so-called “good old boys”, and instead campaigns as “The People’s Choice”. His populist slogan has been proven true by the many times he has handily won re-election.

Collins has campaigned as a staunch supporter of law enforcement. In 2020, after a summer of anti-police protests following the death of George Floyd, Collins organized a rally in support of the police. The “Defend the Police” rally was held in Conroe and featured several big names in GOP politics. DeForest also spoke at the event.
