Two more sitting members of Congress have weighed in on the race to replace retiring Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX) in Texas’ 8th Congressional District, and they are supporting Morgan Luttrell. The Luttrell campaign, which has been rolling out endorsements at a great frequency as the primary election approaches, has announced the endorsements of Congressman Brian Babin (R-TX) and Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (R-TN).
Babin currently represents Texas’ 36th District in East Texas. The 36th District previously included Polk County, however,last year’s redistricting process moved Polk County into the 8th District, for which Luttrell is now running.
“Dr. Babin has tirelessly served the people of Polk County and Texas’ 36th Congressional District since 2015,” said Luttrell. “I am humbled to be endorsed by Dr. Babin and I look forward to carrying on his dedication to his constituents!”
Babin is one of the more conservative members of the GOP caucus. He was formerly a member of the House Freedom Caucus, however, he left in 2017 when the group was at odds with then-president Trump early in his presidency.
Harshbarger is a freshman Republican representing Tennessee’s 1st Congressional District. She won a 17-way primary in 2020 to succeed retiring congressman Phil Roe. Harshbarger’s successful campaign was managed by political operative William Little, who Luttrell has also hired as his campaign manager.

Babin and Harshbarger are not the only members of Congress to get involved in the GOP primary for the 8th District. Congressmen Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) and Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who was Trump’s doctor before serving in Congress, have also endorsed Luttrell. Congressmen Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) have endorsed CD-08 candidate Jonathan Hullihan.
