Madison Cawthorn, Youngest Member of Congress, Backs Collins

With Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX) retiring in the 8th Congressional District, Texas Youth Summit Founder Christian Collins is running to be the next generation of conservative leadership. Collins’ efforts have caught the attention of the youngest member of Congress, Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), who has announced he will be backing Collins in the crowded GOP primary for Texas’ 8th District.

“I am excited to announce that I have been endorsed by my good friend, North Carolina Congressman, Madison Cawthorn,” announced Collins. “As a next-generation America First leader, and the youngest member of Congress who has worked to bring young people into our movement, I look forward to joining Madison in Congress to continue this fight.”

Elected at age 25 to the open seat vacated by Mark Meadows in 2020, Cawthorn is currently the youngest member of Congress. In his one term in Congress, he has earned a reputation as a right-wing bomb-thrower, having found himself at the center of several media firestorms surrounding his controversial remarks.

Before being elected to Congress, Cawthorn suffered a horrendous car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He briefly worked as an aid in then-congressman Meadows’ office.

Cawthorn is the darling of Turning Point USA conferences, where conservative college girls throng the stage, swooning in the presence of the young congressman. Cawthorn has also spoken at Collins’ Texas Youth Summit.

The endorsement of the right-wing rabble-rousing Cawthorn burnishes Collins’ anti-establishment credentials. Collins, who has pledged to join the House Freedom Caucus if elected, has been running an anti-establishment campaign.

“Christian Collins is an American patriot who won’t back down to the RINOS and sellouts in Congress,” said Cawthorn. “He is the true America First candidate running in Texas’s 8th district. I’m proud to join my great friends Lance Gooden and Ted Cruz in endorsing Christian for Congress!”
